Printers

A printer is an output device that prints the character, symbol and graphic on paper. The printed output is called hard copy. Printing the resolution is commonly measured in dots per inch.

 Impact Printers

Impact printer work like a typewriter. It prints characters or image by taking a print Hammer or set of paint against an inked ribbon.

 Impact printer are the oldest print technology which are still produced. The impact printer are used where low cost printing is required. Three Most common form of impact printer are Dot Matrix printer, Daisy wheel printer and Line printer.

 Dot Matrix Printer.

A Dot Matrix printer is an impact printer.It produces printed images when pens on a print head strike and inked ribbon. When the Ribbon process again the paper is great that farm tractors and graphics. The print head on the Dot Matrix Printer can contain 9224 pin this number of print depend on the manufacture and the printer model. The higher number of fingerprint board dots that produced higher quality.

The speed of Dot Matrix printer is measured by the number of characters.It can print in one second the speed of most Dot Matrix printer. The range from 350 to 1100 par second. Dot Matrix printer do not provide high quality output. They produce a lot of noise, while printing the printing cost of the printer is very cheap.

Line Printer

Line printer is a fast impact printer, it presents an entire line at the time. Its speed is measured in line per minutes many line Printer can print 3000 line per minute.

Daisy Wheel Printer

Desi wheel printer is similar to a typewriter. It used with a print wheel. The print wheel is called desi Bil. Each petal of desi will contain a character a motor rotates with a hammer strikes. A battle against the ribbon. When the desired tractor reach the position on the paper, this prints the characters on the paper that we will printer is slower than Dot Matrix printer but better in quality.

Non Impact Printer

An Impact Printer, prints Character and Graphics on paper without striking paper. The characters are printed on paper with different means such as laser. This printers use spray enquiry other use heat and pressure to create image. The printer are faster than impact printer however they are more costly than impact brittle they produce no noise during printing the print quality of non impact printer. It is better than impact printers.

Kinds of Non Impact Printers

1.  Laser Printer

 laser stands for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. The laser printer is a non impact printer its working is similar to photocopy machine.It uses a laser beam to burn special power on the page to create a permanent image, the Powder is contained in the toner.

Laser printer prints complete page at the time it is also known as page printer. The printing speed of laser printer for home and small offices use is 12 to 45 pages per minute. The printing speed of laser printer for large business user is 150 PPM are more the speed depends on the contents being painted. The plain text is printed faster than graphics.

Laser printer prints text and graphics in high quality resolution. Laser printer provide a resolution of 1200 DPI or more. It also presents at higher rate than in jacked and Dot Matrix printer. It does not make much nois. Laser printer is mostly used in the business field. The black and white printing cost of laser printer is less than in jet printer. Laser print are available in black and white as well as colour models.

2.  Inject Printer

Inject printer is a type of non impact printer. It prints character and graphics by separating drops of liquid ink on paper. Printer can produce quality text and graphics in both black and white and colour including photos. Inject printer provide a resolution of 600 DPI are more.

The price of inject printer is less than laser printer however, they are slower than laser printer. Most inject Printer can print from 10 to 35 page per minute.  However, they paint graphics and colours at flower rate the print quality of injet printers is higher than Dot Matrix printer.

3. Thermal Printer

Thermal printer produce output by melting wax based ink  on to paper or by burning dots on to specially coated paper. The basic thermal printer is not very expensive. Its print quality is not very high and it fell over the time it is typically used to print ATM, electronic tickets at airport etc.

Some special type of thermal printer can produce very high quality output. These printers are more expensive and are used in professional applications such as Photography Studio and Medical lab etc.

4.  Photo Printer

Photo printer is a colour printer designed to print high quality photographs it also called shoot printer some photo printer print photo of 12 size only for example some photo printer print photo of 3 x 5 inches. Some Printer can print upto letter size legal size photos etc.

 5. Portable Printer

 Portable printer is a small lightweight and battery powered, it printer it can be used by mobile user to print images from notebook computer tablet and smartphone while  travelling. Its side is a bit wider than the page on which it prints portable printer fits in briefcase easily.

6. Label and Postage Printer

Label printer is a small printer. It prints on an adhesive type material that can be placed on different items like   envelopes,packages,toys etc.

Main label printers also print barcode postage printer is a special type of label printer. It has a built-in digital scale it prints postage stamps it allows the user to buy and print digital postage from their personal computers.
